(WNY News Now) – MAYVILLE, N.Y. — A Lakewood man was arrested Sunday after deputies investigated a reported stolen vehicle in the Village of Mayville, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a South Erie Street address at approximately 12:34 p.m. on June 14, 2026, following a complaint of a stolen vehicle. Authorities were advised that the vehicle may have been seen in the area of Hannum Road.
While searching the area, deputies located a man who was reportedly attempting to conceal himself in nearby woods. Investigators said the individual initially provided a name belonging to another person. Deputies later identified him as Glen M. Barrett, 50, of Lakewood.
Following an investigation, deputies determined Barrett had allegedly taken the vehicle from the South Erie Street residence.
Barrett was charged with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, Criminal Impersonation in the Second Degree, and Petit Larceny.
He was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail and is being held pending centralized arraignment. The charges will be addressed in the Town of Chautauqua Court.
All charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
