(WNY News Now) – A 38-year-old man was arrested early Friday after the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office investigated an altercation in the Town of Hanover.

HANOVER, N.Y. — A Town of Hanover man was arrested following an altercation that occurred just after midnight on July 3, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a reported altercation at approximately 12:01 a.m. on Route 5 and 20 in the Town of Hanover. Following an investigation, authorities alleged that 38-year-old Jamar Fountain intentionally placed another person in reasonable fear of serious physical injury by displaying a deadly weapon.

Fountain was located a short time later and taken into custody without further incident.

He was charged with second-degree menacing and second-degree aggravated harassment. Following his arrest, Fountain was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail to await centralized arraignment.

The charges are allegations, and Fountain is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
