(WNY News Now) – A 23-year-old Jamestown resident was charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on the city’s east side during the early morning hours of Aug. 2, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Officers with the Jamestown Police Department’s Third Platoon conducted a traffic stop at approximately 4:05 a.m. on Aug. 2 at the intersection of East Second Street and Hopkins Avenue.
Police said an investigation determined that the driver, Shakira L. Cuevas-Garcia, 23, of Jamestown, was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
Cuevas-Garcia was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail for processing. She was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and additional Uniform Traffic Tickets (UTTs).
Following processing, Cuevas-Garcia was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.
The charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
