(WNY News Now) – A 20-year-old Olean man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on Route 242 in the Town of Little Valley, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop at approximately 11:12 p.m. on August 4, 2026, on Route 242 in the Town of Little Valley for an alleged vehicle and traffic law violation.

Following an investigation, deputies determined that the driver, identified as Timothy R. J. Benson, 20, of Olean, was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated.

Benson was taken to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office for processing and a chemical test. He was later released with an appearance ticket and multiple uniform traffic tickets.

Benson faces charges of driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or higher, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and no or inadequate headlights.

Benson is scheduled to appear in Town of Little Valley Court at a later date for further proceedings.
