(WNY News Now) – A 25-year-old Buffalo man has been sentenced to 60 months in federal prison for possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Antonio Rivera-Perez, 25, of Buffalo, was sentenced to five years in federal prison after being convicted of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced.

According to federal prosecutors, the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted controlled purchases of fentanyl from Rivera-Perez on Jan. 22 and Jan. 28, 2025.

On April 22, 2025, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Rivera-Perez’s Langfield Drive residence. Investigators seized approximately 1,072 grams of powder cocaine, 198 grams of crack cocaine and 190 grams of fentanyl.

Authorities also recovered a Glock 19 handgun, firearm magazines, ammunition, about $3,500 in cash and drug paraphernalia, according to prosecutors.

U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo imposed the 60-month prison sentence.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Garrett Fitzsimmons and Katerina Powers.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New York Field Division under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Farhana Islam.
