(WNY News Now) – A 49-year-old Tonawanda man was charged with DWI and operating without insurance following a traffic stop in the Town of Cherry Creek on August 19.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop at about 6:16 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, in the Town of Cherry Creek for a traffic violation.

During the investigation, deputies determined that Michael F. Doherty, 49, of Tonawanda, was allegedly driving while intoxicated.

Doherty was arrested and taken to the Sheriff’s Office Hanover Substation. He was subsequently charged with operating a motor vehicle without insurance, DWI and DWI per se.

Doherty was later released and is scheduled to appear in Town of Cherry Creek Court at a later date to answer the charges.

All charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
