(WNY News Now) – A traffic stop on Route 20 in Westfield led to the seizure of fentanyl and methamphetamine and the arrest of a 22-year-old woman, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies stopped a vehicle on Route 20 in the Town of Westfield on September 3 at about 3:52 p.m. after observing it leave a storage unit on Prospect Road, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle was operated by Kaelyn Hayward, 22, who deputies said they knew had a suspended driver’s license. A passenger was identified as Matthew Mulville, 37, of Brocton.

A records check determined Mulville had an arrest warrant through New York State Police. Deputies also reported finding drug paraphernalia on Mulville and additional paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

Hayward was taken into custody. A search of her belongings reportedly resulted in the seizure of 19.8 grams of fentanyl, 4.0 grams of methamphetamine and $281 in cash.

Deputies then obtained a search warrant for the storage unit Hayward had been seen leaving. The subsequent search resulted in the seizure of additional fentanyl, drug paraphernalia and cash, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Hayward was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, along with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Third Degree and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle.

Mulville was turned over to State Police on the outstanding warrant.

Hayward was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for arraignment through the Centralized Arraignment Program, according to the Sheriff’s Office. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
