(WNY News Now) – A 16-year-old juvenile died Wednesday after being struck by a train on CSX railroad tracks in the Village of Silver Creek, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to the CSX railroad tracks in Silver Creek at about 3:57 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2026, following a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a train.

An investigation determined that the pedestrian was a 16-year-old juvenile who had been struck by a train on the railroad tracks.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Due to the victim’s age, authorities will not release the juvenile’s name.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Silver Creek Fire Department, Chautauqua County EMS and CSX personnel.
