(WNY News Now) – A 36-year-old Forestville woman faces multiple charges following a Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office investigation involving alleged conduct against a minor.

Deputies investigated an incident in Forestville on Sept. 19, 2026, involving allegations that a child’s welfare had been endangered, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

During the investigation, deputies located Chelsea M. Richter, 36, of Forestville, and attempted to take her into custody. Authorities said a brief physical altercation occurred before Richter was arrested.

Richter was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the Second Degree and Resisting Arrest.

A search following the arrest allegedly found 0.7 grams of cocaine and 2.0 grams of methamphetamine, along with other items. She was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.

Richter was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, where she was scheduled to participate in the county’s Centralized Arraignment Program.

She is expected to appear later in Town of Hanover Court. The charges are allegations, and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
