(WNY News Now) – A 35-year-old Brocton man was arrested after Jamestown police said he was found with a wallet taken from a vehicle at the Riverwalk Center.

Jamestown police arrested Steven J. Seavy, 35, of Brocton, following a reported larceny investigation at the Riverwalk Center on September 28.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the 2nd Platoon were dispatched to the Riverwalk Center around 5:53 p.m. for a report of a vehicle being entered.

While officers were responding, police were informed that a man, later identified as Seavy, was allegedly being chased down the street by the registered owner of the vehicle. Police said the vehicle owner reported that items had been taken from the car.

Seavy was eventually taken into custody near the St. Susan Center, according to police. Officers said he was found in possession of the victim’s wallet, which contained credit cards and identification.

Seavy was charged with Petit Larceny, Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

He was taken to Jamestown City Court and was being held pending arraignment, police said.

The charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
