(WNY News Now) – Jamestown police say a 33-year-old man was charged after surveillance footage allegedly showed him removing parts from an outdoor cooling system at St. Susan’s Center, causing the loss of thousands of dollars of perishable food.

The Jamestown Police Department responded to a criminal mischief complaint at St. Susan’s Center, 31 Water Street, following damage to the facility’s cooling system.

According to police, the incident occurred around 5:34 p.m. on August 16, 2026. The department received the complaint on August 17 after center personnel discovered the cooling system had been damaged.

Police said surveillance footage showed Jurall R. Reid, 33, removing copper components and a radiator from the cooling system located outside the building. The damage caused the refrigerator to stop operating.

The St. Susan’s Center reported that approximately $4,860 worth of perishable food was stored in the affected cooling system. The food is used to provide meals and services to people in need. Reid himself was noted to have received countless meals from the St. Susan’s Center prior to the incident.

Police said additional surveillance footage allegedly showed Reid in possession of the removed cooling system parts and selling them for money. The department also received information identifying Reid after surveillance footage was shared on social media.

Reid was charged with second-degree criminal mischief and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Police said Reid was already incarcerated when investigators identified him as the suspect. He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he was arraigned in Jamestown City Court and released.

St. Susan’s Center personnel said the incident affected food intended for people who rely on the organization’s services and emphasized that damage or theft involving the facility will not be tolerated due to the consequences it causes for the community.

The charges are allegations, and Reid is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
