(WNY News Now) – Two Jamestown men were charged Tuesday after police say they were found inside a fenced area of an east-side business without permission.

Jamestown Police responded to a suspicious situation complaint at an east-side business at about 3 p.m. Sept. 29.

According to police, officers from the department’s 2nd Platoon found Eugene V. Lesak Jr., 59, of Jamestown, and Mark E. Brightman, 62, of Jamestown, inside the fenced-in area of the business.

Police said an investigation determined that the men were allegedly in possession of scrap metal and copper belonging to the business.

Brightman was also allegedly found with a small quantity of methamphetamine, according to police.

Both men were taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail.

Lesak was charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree
  • Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree

Brightman was charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree
  • Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree

Police said the Town of Ellicott Police Department assisted with the investigation.

Both men were processed and released on appearance tickets. They are scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.

The charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
