(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A 53-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night after Jamestown police officers allegedly observed him walking with a woman he was ordered to stay away from under an order of protection.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers were conducting a STRIVE domestic violence detail at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Oct. 21, 2026, when they observed Michael S. Cook walking with the woman in downtown Jamestown.

Police said Cook was subject to an order of protection requiring him to stay away from the woman.

Officers took Cook into custody without incident, according to the department.

Cook was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and charged with criminal contempt in the first degree.

He was being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court, police said.

The charge is an allegation, and Cook is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
