(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. — Two Buffalo men have been arrested and charged with conspiring to traffic firearms following a federal investigation that included multiple controlled purchases of guns, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York.

Dut Dour, 34, and Tommy Purdue, 28, were charged by criminal complaint with conspiracy to commit firearms trafficking. The charge carries a maximum potential penalty of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

According to the complaint, the FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) began investigating a suspected firearms trafficking operation in May 2025. The group allegedly operated throughout the Western District of New York.

Investigators identified Dour and Purdue during the investigation. Authorities conducted controlled firearm purchases from Dour on Aug. 15, 2025, and Feb. 27, 2026. Additional purchases occurred on April 14 and April 29, 2026.

The firearms involved in the purchases included four handguns and a rifle. Purdue was present during the August 2025 transaction, according to the complaint.

Authorities also reviewed Purdue’s social media accounts and communications between the two men. According to investigators, Purdue appeared in multiple photographs and videos featuring handguns and long rifles, with some images dating back to November 2024.

The complaint also states that Dour possessed multiple cellular devices. Investigators noted that phones used primarily to facilitate illegal activity and avoid law enforcement detection are sometimes referred to as “dirty” phones.

Both men made initial appearances before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Roemer and were detained.

Assistant U.S. Attorney MacCaelin A. Sedita is prosecuting the case.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI, under Special Agent-in-Charge Allen D. Davis II, and the ATF’s New York Field Division, under Special Agent-in-Charge Bryan DiGirolamo.

The charges are accusations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
