BUFFALO – Jack Eichel, team captain for the Buffalo Sabres, will be the only Sabres player to play in the 2019 NHL All-Star Game.
It will be the second consecutive year in which Eichel will be the only player for the Sabres in the All-Star Game.
Eichel currently leads the team this season with 49 points, scoring 15 goals and adding 34 assists.
In Buffalo’s last two seasons, Eichel has led the team in points.
Eichel was the second overall-pick in the 2015 draft, with Connor McDavid being drafted number one.
In 249 games played, Eichel has totaled 226 points, scoring 88 goals, and 138 assists.
Despite the two All-Star accolades, the Sabres are still trying to return to the NHL Playoffs for the first time since the 2010-2011 season.
During their playoff drought, the Sabres have had six consecutive losing seasons under five different head coaches.
Buffalo has also finished last in the Atlantic Division four times in the last five years.
