Couple Faces Multiple Animal Cruelty Charges After Dog Found Frozen To Camper Floor

RICHBURG – A Richburg couple is facing multiple animal cruelty charges after being arrested by New York State Troopers Friday.

James L. Graham, 49, and Helen R. Graham, 50, both of Richburg, were charged with failure to provide sustenance, neglect of an impounded animal, and failure to provide appropriate shelter for dogs.

Along with Allegany County SPCA Investigators, Troopers investigated a complaint of malnourished and neglected dogs at a property on County Road 40 in the town of Wirt and located five dogs with no access to food, water, or heat. One of the dogs was frozen to the floor of a camper, police said.

Both Grahams were arrested and arraigned in Wirt Town Court and released on their own recognizance. They are due to reappear in that court later this month.
