
JAMESTOWN – Corey Wilford, who celebrated his 28th birthday Friday, had a strong performance against his former team as the Jamestown Jackals defeated the Owensboro Thoroughbreds, 125-103, Friday night.
Wilford scored 24 points off the bench, and he shot 7-9 from beyond the arc.
The shooting guard also pulled down eight rebounds and dished four assists.
DeAngelo Stewart, a shooting guard, scored a game-high 27 points and a game-high 20 boards for Jamestown.
Forward Glenroy Carr, Jr. chipped in with 17 points and eight rebounds.
For the Thoroughbreds, Mike Williams scored a team-high 24 points.
B.J. Batts added 20 points and 11 assists.
Jamestown improved to 12-10 with the win, moving up to a fifth-place tie with the Albany Patroons.
With their third straight loss, Owensboro dropped to 6-17.
Jamestown’s next game is Sunday at 3 p.m. as they will host the Kansas City Tornadoes, who are in third place in The Basketball League.
