D.C. Man Charged With Boating While Intoxicated Following Boat Collision

CHAUTAUQUA – A Washington D.C. man is facing BWI charges after the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said he operated his vessel while intoxicated.

Matthew G. Lockwood, 42, allegedly struck another vessel while boating near the Chautauqua Institution Sports Club Dock.

Deputies said when interviewing Lockwood, he allegedly smelled of alcohol. After failing a standardized field sobriety test, deputies arrested Lockwood for boating while intoxicated.


Deputies said a chemical test revealed Lockwood’s blood alcohol content was .19%.

Lockwood is charged with BWI, BWI Per Se, and unregistered vessel.
