JAMESTOWN – Wednesday is a day to shine a light on a summertime staple.
Known as National Hot Dog Day, the holiday commemorates the wieners.
There are many ways to prepare frankfurters, they can be grilled, roasted over a campfire, boiled or pan fried.
Wieners can be eaten plain or covered in a variety of toppings. Those include: mustard, ketchup, relish, onions, cole slaw and sauerkraut.
They’re popular items to eat at baseball games. Stadiums sell more than 25-million of them per year.
Locally, AJs Texas Hots has a daily special of three for four dollars. Johnny’s Lunch in Lakewood serves dogs on a daily also.
