New Restaurant Now Open In Jamestown

JAMESTOWN – Jimmy’s Family Restaurant is officially open following a ribbon cutting in Brooklyn Square Friday afternoon.

The restaurant occupies the former Friendly’s space that was abandoned after the chain closed its Jamestown location earlier this year.

Restaurant owner, and City of Jamestown Director of Development, Vince DeJoy said the restaurant will be run by Friendly’s former manager. A similar menu will be offered, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and ice cream at fair prices.

Around 50 people, some of whom are former Friendly’s employees, were hired as part of the opening.

DeJoy said Jimmy’s is a play on Jamestown’s famed nickname, Jimmytown, and in honor of his two grandfathers who both went by the name.

This is not DeJoy’s first restaurant venture. He and his brother previously owned and operated ‘Stage Left’ in the 1990’s, which is currently Forte.
