SUNSET BAY – A summertime event aimed to raise money for Oishei Children’s Hospital of Buffalo is set to take place this week.

The ‘chicken’ swim for charity is looking to raise more than $6,000 to purchase an exam table for the hospital’s women’s clinic.

Participants will take the plunge Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Cabana Sam’s in Sunset Bay. Throughout the year swimmers have generated pledges to jump into the lake.

An extended happy hour offering two for the price of one drinks and music by the Screaming Pineapples will also be featured as part of the event.

Prizes will be awarded for the best dressed swimmer and the swimmer generating the most pledges as well.

The ‘chicken’ swim is in tandem with a polar bear plunge that takes place in January.
