JAMESTOWN – A new study indicates that a healthier diet can improve depression in young adults.
The study was published this week in the journal “PLOS One.”
It found that eating a healthy diet for three weeks improved depressive symptoms in college-age young adults.
The study’s lead author said cutting down processed foods and eating more fruits, vegetables and fish resulted in improvements.
Those who kept up with the diet for three months continued to experience an improved outlook on life.
The average age of participants in the small randomized trial was 19.
