JAMESTOWN – A Blizzard Warning is in effect through 4 p.m. Friday for the Southern Tier bringing heavy lake effect snow and whiteouts with gusty winds.

Snow totals will range from 7 to 10 inches along the lower elevations to as much as 15 to 24 inches along the hills of the Southern Tier.


Travel could also be very difficult to impossible as areas of blowing snow will produce near zero visibility.

The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commutes Thursday and Friday.

Strong winds could cause some tree damage and isolated power outages.











Officials say travel is strongly discouraged.
