GOWANDA – The search for two youths who allegedly fell into the Cattaraugus Creek in Gowanda Thursday evening has been deemed a hoax.

Chautauqua County’s Fire Dispatch confirmed the news to WNYNewsNow.


Originally, the Chautauqua County Water Rescue Team, several local fire departments and a helicopter aided in the search.

The search has since been called off.

  1. Then them and their parents should be made to pay for the services of every company out there looking for them.

    • They didn’t even know who the kids were, or the parents. Someone who was deemed intoxicated/under the influence at the time called it in.

  2. Thank God it was a hoax! I watched it all and was so worried about those kids. That person should be made to pay for everything. Lock them up and throw away the key.
