Students in Lisa Corey’s art class were recently assigned to re-create works with items commonly found around their home.

Corey encouraged students to take virtual field trips to museums for inspiration.

“The keys to a successful re-creation were to imitate the pose/or arrangement of the art using items with similar colors or shapes in a creative way,” explained Corey. “This was a great assignment because it didn’t require buying art materials, students used only what was available at home.”

The assignment was inspired by the Instagram challenge called “Between Art and Quarantine,” but adapted with the invitation to use digitized and downloadable artworks from Getty Museum’s on-line collection.
