Bassmaster Magazine Lists Lake Erie Among Nation’s Best Bass Fisheries

LAKE ERIE — BassMaster Magazine has listed Lake Erie as one of America’s best bass fisheries, according to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

In the latest issue, BassMaster ranks Lake Erie as the third best bass fishing waters for the decade.






The bass fishing organization called Lake Erie a “world-class smallmouth fishery. The lake often surrenders trophy smallmouths with an average catch of 4 pouynds, but many bass in the 6 to 7 pound range.

Lake Erie  fell out of the nation’s top 10 ranking in 2015 and 2018, but climbed back into the top 10 last year.



“True giants live here,” the magazine reported.
