Suspect In Custody Following Monday Afternoon Shooting In Jamestown

JAMESTOWN – A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting Monday afternoon on Prendergast Avenue in Jamestown.

Jamestown Police say 27-year-old Jorge Medina-Tirando was taken into custody following the shooting at 834 Prendergast Ave.





Upon arrival to scene, officers learned that a male victim had been seriously injured after being shot twice and had been transported to UPMC Chautauqua in a private vehicle.

The male victim was later transferred to UPMC Hamot in Erie where he is currently undergoing surgery.

Investigators were able to locate Medina-Tirando at an address on Euclid Avenue in Jamestown.





















The investigation revealed that the victim was on the porch of the location when an altercation ensured between several subjects.

During the altercation, Medina-Tirando allegedly pulled out a pistol and fired several rounds, striking the victim twice.

Investigators later recover the loaded weapon in a wooded area near where the shooting occurred.

Medina-Tirando is being charged with first degree assault and second degree possession of a weapon with additional charges pending.









He is being held in Jamestown City Jail awaiting arraignment in the case.
