JAMESTOWN — While celebrating Labor Day in Jamestown, Mayor Eddie Sundquist announced that all essential workers have won their share of the George Ritzer Memorial Labor Award.

The award was given during a ceremony Friday.

“The 2020 Ritzer award will be honorarily presented to all essential workers,” The Jamestown Area Central Labor Council said in a statement.

“From health care workers, transportation workers, construction workers to supermarket employees and many more, these essential workers were required to report to work under ever changing regulations  and risked higher rates of exposure to ensure our community kept running. The Jamestown Area Labor Council would like to take this opportunity to honor them for the sacrifices they made,” the statement said.
