LAKEWOOD – Chautauqua County Executive PJ Wendel has been endorsed by one of the state’s largest unions representing government workers.

Wendel, in a media release on Monday, announced he has been endorsed by Civil Service Employee Association Chautauqua County Local 807 and the CSEA Region VI Political Action Committee.

The executive says he is proud of the endorsement because the groups represented many local county government employees.

“I care deeply about the concerns and especially the safety of our county workforce,” said Wendel. “Safety is a top priority for me, to make sure each and every employee, no matter what their job is, goes home to their family at the end of the day.” I

CSEA is one of New York’s largest worker unions and is the largest affiliate union of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).

Members of the union work in the many areas of local government in the county.

Wendel, the endorsed Republican candidate for Chautauqua County Executive, is running against Democrat Richard Morrisroe in this fall’s election.
