JAMESTOWN – A downtown Jamestown business that recently opened a new location on Third Street celebrated the spot with a ribbon cutting on Thursday morning.

The Chautauqua Soap Company, located 14 E. Third St., moved to the new location in June, but because of COVID-19 gathering restrictions, was unable to celebrate the move.

Owner Audrey Ralston bought the company from another Jamestown resident.

She says opening the shop amid a worldwide pandemic has proved to be unique.

“It was definitely a unique time in which to open a new business,” Ralston said. “Friends always like to highlight the fact that I opened a business during a worldwide pandemic, but I’ve been so busy creating and promoting my soaps these last many months, I haven’t actually had much time to reflect on that.”

The shop sells several products from soaps to candles, featuring diverse ingredients and scents.

The Chautauqua Soap Company is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, and is closed Sundays and Mondays.
