Western New York’s COVID-19 Infection Rate Continues Uptick

JAMESTOWN – More than two-dozen cases of COVID-19 were reported between Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties over the weekend, this as the virus’ infection rate continues to rise in the region.

New York State Health leaders on Sunday announced that the region’s COVID-19 positivity rate reached 4.8%, the highest rate of all 10 regions in the state.

This as Chautauqua County announced 18 new cases over the weekend, 10 on Saturday and eight on Sunday. Local health leaders are expected to release more details in an update today.











Meanwhile, Cattaraugus County reported 11 new cases over the weekend with six on Saturday and five on Sunday.

Governor Andrew Cuomo is expected to announce a new strategy to combat micro-clusters during a press conference sometime Monday.
