LITTLE VALLEY – The thirty-first COVID-19 related death has been reported in Cattaraugus County, the fourth just this week.

The Cattaraugus County Health Department announced late Thursday a 75-year-old man living in the northwest part of the county developed respiratory failure and was unable to overcome his illness.

Health leaders also reported 62 new cases of the virus, with 387 now active.

The county’s seven-day average infection rate also increased to 6.8%; with 20 people hospitalized.

Since the outbreak started there have been 1,278 COVID-19 cases reported, with 859 recovering.
