JAMESTOWN – Two pets died in a fire at a Jamestown apartment on Sunday afternoon.

The Jamestown Fire Department responded to a two-story apartment house on King Street just after noon.

When crews got to the scene, they report finding heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the structure.

Firefighters acted quickly to stop the flames from spreading, bringing the blaze under control in around 30 minutes.

It appears all occupants of the apartment made it out okay, however, crews found three pets inside, only recovering one of them.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
