WASHINGTON – Senator Bernie Sanders made a splash when he wore knit mittens at the inauguration, and now that ‘fashion moment’ has helped him raise $1.8 million for charity.

The Vermont Democrat has been selling “Chairman Sanders” merchandise inspired by the now-infamous photo of him sitting in a chair with his arms and legs crossed.

Sanders says the money will go to several charities in his state.

He started selling the items on his campaign website on Thursday, they sold out in under 30-minutes.
