JAMESTOWN – The Chadakoin River will be turned green this weekend in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.

The Jamestown Mayor’s Office announced Tuesday morning the event will take place Saturday at 11 a.m. at the JAMA Parking Lot.

In a statement, Mayor Eddie Sundquist is asking residents attending in person to wear a mask and social distance.

“Turning the River Green is a proud Jamestown tradition that we are happy to be continuing after last year’s cancellation,” said Sundquist. “Due to the nature of the event being outdoors and the ability to easily socially distance, we thought that this was an excellent opportunity to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in a safe, responsible manner.”

Last year’s event was canceled due to COVID-19 gathering concerns.

  1. I don’t even understand at all how this can be considered environmentally ok, specially for the 30-100 people that might show up?

What kind of dye do they use? Everyone knows that food colorings are bad for you, especially at higher levels, it’s proven with children. Just think of the quantity that they would need to do this stunt…

What a waste of $$$ & an unneccessary additive to an already poisoned river.

    Save the earth right?
