MAYVILLE – Chautauqua County’s unemployment rate rose nearly 10 percent in the month of January.
That’s according to new statistics released by the New York State Labor Department on Tuesday.
The rate is now 9.6 percent, an increase from 7.80 percent the month before.
The new rate is now above the state’s average of 8.8 percent.
