ELLERY – The 21-year-old man who died during a rollover vehicle crash on I-86 in the Town of Ellery on Tuesday afternoon has been identified.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says Joseph Zatyko, of Mayville, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man, deputies say, was traveling eastbound when his vehicle left the highway and struck the Westman Road bridge embankment around 3 p.m.

The vehicle then rolled over and continued to travel up the embankment where it came to rest.

First responders worked with the county’s technical rescue team to gain access to the mangled vehicle.

A medical helicopter was also called to a nearby golf course.

Crews remained on scene until 6 p.m. removing the vehicle from the hillside.

The Ellery and Bemus Volunteer Fire Departments, Chautauqua County Tech Rescue Team and Chautauqua County Coroner’s Office also responded to the scene.
