UPDATE: Woman Struck, Killed By Train In Chautauqua County Identified

WESTFIELD – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train in the Village of Westfield on Thursday afternoon.

Chautauqua County Sheriff Jim Quattrone tells WNY News Now the person was struck by a northbound train in the area of North Gale Street around 3:20 p.m.

A search for the pedestrian was underway along the railroad tracks between North Gale and Franklin Streets in the village shortly after the incident was phoned into emergency services.

The Westfield, Mayville and Portland Fire Departments utilized all-terrain vehicles in the search.

The coroner has since been called to the scene and Quattrone says the body has been recovered.

The railroad is now closed off to train traffic as first responders work the scene.









The Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Westfield Police Department in the investigation into why the pedestrian was hit.
