JAMESTOWN – Jamestown’s third Ward officially has a new representative on city council.

Regina Brackman was sworn into office during a special meeting of the lawmaking body last night.

The longtime friend of late Councilwoman James, Brackman fills the vacancy caused by her death last month.

The council voted unanimously to confirm the Democrat’s appointment. She was previously nominated by Jamestown Mayor Eddie Sundquist to fill the open seat.

Brackman will run against Republican Robert Reedy for the seat in this fall’s election.

A lifelong Jamestown resident, she works for Truck Lite in Falconer.
