JAMESTOWN – A new full-service marina and pathway expansion may be coming to Jamestown’s Riverwalk trail system.

Jamestown’s City Council discussed proposals that would extend the trail system and sell the Lawson Boat & Motor property.

The property would be sold for $5,000, a fair market value assessment. A hearing is scheduled for Monday, April 26 at 7 p.m. to gauge public input on the sale.

Once sold, plans to develop and operate a full-service marina at the location would move forward.

The Riverwalk Bike Trail would also expand. The current trail section runs between Eighth Street and Clifton Avenue near the future Riverwalk Skatepark.

“We want to continue the Riverwalk, it has been awesome, I see more and more people taking advantage of it every day,” said Councilman Tom Nelson. “I think the more we can add to that, the better, and I hope everyone is getting out there, well, maybe not tomorrow or the next day, it might be a little cold for April, but the weather will get better.”

Costs associated with the trail extension will be covered via a grant from the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Legacy Fund.

An additional 1,100 feet of new pathways will be covered by more than $17,000 in funding.
