MAYVILLE – A Falconer man is facing rape and other charges after he allegedly forced sexual intercourse and other sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl in December.

The Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office announced Friday afternoon that Devon Smith was arraigned on an indictment charging him with rape in the first and second-degrees, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

Bail was set at $150,000 cash/$300,000 real property/$300,000 partially secured. The DA’s office says orders of protection were issued for the victim and for potential prosecution witnesses.

The case was investigated by Officer Daniel Leighton and other members of the Ellicott Police Department. Smith is being represented by the Chautauqua County Public Defender’s Office.
