JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown Police officers is receiving praise for her efforts to save baby ducklings from a storm drain over the weekend.

In a post on social media Sunday morning the department shared photos of the unusual rescue.

Officers were called to Hazeltine Avenue near Persell Middle School just after 7 a.m. for a report of baby ducklings that fell through a rain gate.

That’s when Officer Carlson came to the rescue, climbing down into the drain and safely scooping up the babies.

The two little ducklings were eventually reunited with their mama mallard who continued on their morning stroll around the community.
