Law Enforcement Cracking Down On Impaired Driving This Memorial Day

MAYVILLE – If you plan to indulge with alcoholic beverages this weekend, law enforcement officials in Chautauqua County are reminding you to not get behind the wheel.

The STOP-DWI enforcement campaign starts today and runs through Tuesday in an effort to crack down on impaired drivers over the Memorial Day Weekend.











According to the Institute for Traffic Safety Management and Research, 251 people were killed and more than 5,000 injured in drunk driving related crashes in 2019 across New York.

Police say are asking residents to simply have a plan to get from their holiday gatherings back home safely.

A new smart phone app from AAA called, “Have A Plan,” is available to help find safe rides home no matter where you may be celebrating. To download and learn more visit stopdwi.org/mobileapp.









Drivers can also expect to see sobriety checkpoints and increased patrols law enforcement agencies across New York State this weekend.
