JAMESTOWN – The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Jamestown (UUCJ) is growing vegetables in the church’s Giving Garden for a good cause.

Kale, peas, radishes, dill, beets, Bright Lights Swiss chard, cilantro, fennel, Egyptian walking onions, chives, Bronze fennel, oregano, and sweet marjoram seeds have been planted and the resulting produce will be donated to the Jamestown Mobile Market.

The garden gets the majority of its water from rain barrels that collect runoff from the roof. Furthermore, compost is being used to fertilize the soil and boost the nutrients that the plants can take in.

The effort was catalyzed by UUCJ’s Social Justice Committee and the Giving Garden Team.
