MAYVILLE – A local municipality in Chautauqua County is seeking financial compensation in a new lawsuit following a drinking water contamination incident last year.

The Village of Mayville is suing 3M for allegedly contaminating the town’s water supply.

The suit, filed in Chautauqua County Supreme Court on Tuesday, is not only seeking financial compensation but also calling for a medical monitoring program, groundwater monitoring and treatment program going forward.

In December the village detected Perfluorononanoic Acid in their water lines, causing a month’s long water emergency.

A new water pump has since been installed, fixing the issue.
