Man Killed In Head-on Crash On Interstate-86 Identified 

NORTH HARMONY – The man killed in Thursday morning’s head-on crash on Interstate-86 in Chautauqua County has been identified. 

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says 51-year-old Bradley Wakefield, of Cattaraugus, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. 

Additionally, 32-year-old Heather Capell, of Brunswick, GA, was seriously hurt. She is now receiving treatment at an Erie, Pa hospital, deputies say.  











The crash happened around 5 a.m. after a wrong-way driver hit a vehicle traveling west on the highway. Police did not specify who was driving the vehicle traveling in the wrong direction.  

I-86 westbound from exit 8 (Route 394) to exit 7 (Panama-Stedman Road) was closed for nearly six hours while crews worked the scene.  









The Ashville Fire Department, Bemus Point Fire Department, Chautauqua County Emergency Services, New York State Police and Chautauqua County Fire Police assisted sheriff deputies at the scene.
