Tornado Warning Axed For Parts Of Cattaraugus County

ASHFORD HOLLOW – A tornado warning was issued for parts of northeastern Cattaraugus County Saturday.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo reported at around 3:14 p.m. Saturday a thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Ashford Hollow, or 16 miles north of Salamanca, moving northeast at 20 mph. 

The tornado was radar indicated, with the possibility of flying debris, a danger to those caught without  shelter. Mobile homes could have been damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles was also likely. 


The Weather Service asked those in the warned area to move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.

The warning experinced at 3:45 p.m. and was not reissued.
