Report: Gov. Hochul Picks NYS Senator Brian Benjamin For Lieutenant Governor

ALBANY (WENY) – Governor Kathy Hochul has picked State Senator Brian Benjamin to be her lieutenant governor, two sources tell CBS News.

A formal announcement is expected on Thursday.

Benjamin, 44, represents parts of Harlem and the Upper East and West Sides of New York City. He also serves as the chairman of the State Senate’s revenue and budget committee and is an assistant majority leader.

The news comes one day after Hochul was officially sworn in as New York’s 57th Governor, two weeks after now-former Governor Andrew Cuomo announced he would step down amid sexual misconduct allegations.
