ALBANY (WENY) – New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and nine other governors urged Congress to prioritize key elements of President Joe Biden’s Biden’s Build Back Better Agenda aimed at protecting the climate.

The governors issued a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer Wednesday to pass the bipartisan infrastructure deal and a bold reconciliation bill tackling climate change.

They requested that 40 percent of the benefits of climate and clean infrastructure investments are directed to disadvantaged communities.

Some of the programs included would support a carbon-free grid, improve public health and investments in climate resilience.

The letter comes as wildfires, hurricanes and extreme heat have threatened the nation, endangering both citizens and animals.
