ERIE (Erie News Now) – A run-in with a deer could leave you with a big bill at the auto repair shop, and we’re about to enter prime time for those unfortunate meetups.
As the weather gets colder, more deer will be out, increasing your chance of hitting one while driving.
Unfortunately, Pennsylvania ranks among the highest states for deer collisions.
At Bonnell’s Collision Center, they said staff is already working on deer hits, and they only expect more to come in as we get deeper into fall.
“Just be aware of surroundings,” said Mike Lenart, collision estimator for Bonnell’s Collision Center. “Look ahead, look for eye shine. lot of times when you see a deer come to the edge of the road, a lot of times you will get a glow from the eyes. Be aware when going by fields.”
The average cost of a deer-related collision is approximately $4,000.
Thanks to part shortages across the country, it could take a bit more time to get your vehicle back from repair.
